Biodiversity Town Day - an annual event
"Monaghan Tidy Towns has had a strong focus on promoting local biodiversity. We lknow how fortunate we are in Monaghan town to have an urban area so rich in biodiversity with several waterways including rivers, lakes and a canal, all within the town boundary. Interest and awareness is growing in the importance of biodiversity and climate friendly actions and TidyTowns across the country is increasingly a grassroots environmental movement. We hope our annual event will spread the word further and encourage more people to get involved, even in a small way.

"Monaghan Tidy Towns has had a strong focus on promoting local biodiversity for a number of years now and we are always looking for ways to promote the concept to the wider public. We learned early on how fortunate we are in Monaghan town to have an urban area so rich in biodiversity with several waterways including rivers, lakes and the canal, all within the town boundary. Interest and awareness is growing in the importance of biodiversity and climate friendly actions and TidyTowns across the country is increasingly a grassroots environmental movement. We hope this event will spread the word further and encourage more people to get involved, even in a small way.”
“Monaghan allotments have been developed in a very biodiversity friendly way with plenty of space for wildlife, orchards, new native hedgerows and pollinator friendly planting. Rainwater harvesting and other sustainable projects are also on show. We encourage everyone to come along for an hour or two.
